Gary Natani Smiley, 85, of Blackwater died on Dec. 12, 2010, in Gilbert.
The wake will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the family home. The graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Squaw Bush Cemetery, with the Rev. Aaron Johns officiating.
Mr. Smiley was born on April 14, 1925, in Toadley, N.M., and was a son of Sam and Mary Smiley. He was a farm worker. He enjoyed building things, being outdoors, gardening, travel, telling stories and being around his family. He prayed every morning.
Survivors include 10 daughters, Brenda J. Hall, Paula M. Marrietta, Sandra Smiley, Cynthia Ross, Dionne and Janell Smiley, Rolanda Dawahoya and Dawn Smiley, all of Blackwater, Sherrie Smiley of Whiteriver and Joan Smiley of Parker; a brother, Arsenio Smiley of Gallup, N.M.; 43 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhoda; two brothers, Joe and Evans Smiley; and three sisters, Florence Smiley Hatathli, Bessie Smiley Bitsilly and Ida Mae Williams.
