George Ray Weidenkeller, 66, died January 13, 2024, at his home in Casa Grande, Arizona.
He was born on May 26, 1957, in Loveland, CO, to Ruben and Florence Weidenkeller. Both parents, his brother, Edward, and nephew C.R. Budde preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children Nathan Weidenkeller (wife Abby and grandchildren Tatum and Henley of Montgomery, TX); Renae Benson (husband Jon of Clarkdale, AZ); sister Ruth Weidenkeller (Gary Wohlman and his daughter, Lindsey and husband Andrew and her son Peter Budde); sister-in-law Bonnie (and children, Jason and wife Ashley and Katie and her fiancé Matt and daughters Adelynn and Olivia); and sister Caroline Veit (husband Rick and children Elaina and Lucy).
George graduated from Loveland High School (class of 1975) and held various positions at Loveland Lumber Yard and Old Dutch Foods but spent most of his career at Colorado State University as a heavy equipment operator before retiring in 2017. His retirement dream was to move to Arizona, enjoy the warmer weather and spend his later years on the golf course. He achieved just that by moving to Casa Grande, AZ in 2017 and living in the Mission Royale Adult Village while playing golf with the infamous "Misfits" at Mission Royale Golf Course.
He will be remembered most for his big smile, kind heart and love for his children, family, friends and home sports teams: Broncos, Rockies, Rams and Buffs.
An informal celebration of his life will be held at Mariana Butte Golf Course on February 10, 2024 from 11am – 2pm.
