FLORENCE - Gerald Edward Pomeroy, 86, of Florence died peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 10, 2016, in Florence with his family by his side.
Mr. Pomeroy was born on July 26, 1930, in Michigan and was a son of Chester E. and Laura Pomeroy. He was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War and later was a government radar technician in the aviation field. He and his wife of 60 years, Nina, moved to Florence from Michigan in 1994.
He was a Florence town councilman several years ago and also served on the Planning Committee for Florence Gardens. Very well liked, he was devoted to his family and loved his church family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enjoyed travel and formerly enjoyed repairing radios and TVs.
Survivors include a son, Steven E. Pomeroy of Florence; three daughters, Susan Seifert of South Bend, Indiana, Sheryl Fischer of Grandville, Michigan, and Sharla Stiles of Eloy; a brother, Timothy Pomeroy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Carol Gault of California; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Scott Pomeroy; and a brother, Richard Pomeroy.
