MARICOPA - Gerald Everette "Jerry" Tibbs, 86, of Maricopa died peacefully on Sept. 3, 2016.
Mr. Tibbs was born on Nov. 29, 1929, in Decatur, Illinois, to Martin and Eva Tibbs. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, hunting and hiking, and especially in the Arizona mountains.
He loved sports, especially watching the Chicago Bears. He loved spending time with his family and taking his grandchildren camping and fishing. He retired from BNSF Railway and as a Foursquare minister. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and many other westerns.
Survivors include five daughters and sons, Sylvia Tibbs of Maricopa, Gerald Tibbs II of Tacoma, Washington, Glenn Tibbs of Winslow, Julia Abrahamsen of Maricopa and Garren Tibbs of Surprise; two sisters, Hattie Stukins of Decatur and Helen Helms of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Martin, Charles, Lenard, Oliver and Pearl Tibbs.
No service is planned.
