BLACKWATER - Gerald F. Brown 84, of Blackwater died peacefully at home on Sept. 2, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Brown was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in Sacaton and was the third son of Nathan and Minnie (Johns) Brown. He enlisted in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the farming industry, where he worked the majority of his life.
He was known for his service to the Gila River Indian Community as a member of various committees, being an elder and deacon in his church as well as his devotion to Haskel Osife Antone Post 51 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne (Jackson) Brown; three sons, Rayburn and Myron Brown Sr. and Michael Brown; a daughter, Geneva Brown; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Roderick; two sisters, Irma and Evelyn; and two sons, Sanford and Delvin.
Memorial service at the family home, 15995 N. Fire Station Lane in Blackwater, at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Burial in Squaw Bush Cemetery.
