Gilbert Lawrence Joaquin

AK-CHIN - Gilbert Lawrence Joaquin, 53, died on July 19, 2018.

Mr. Joaquin was born in Sacaton and was a son of Richard Joaquin Sr. and Rosemary Miguel-Chiago. He was a supervisor for Ak-Chin Indian Community Farms and was employed with the farms for over 30 years. He also served on the Ak-Chin Farms Board.

During his free time he loved to hang out with his family and friends. He also loved watching his Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Cardinals. He was a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved and always thought of others before himself.

He is survived by his companion, Lucinda Allen; a stepson, Rando Pablo; his father; four siblings, Phillip Joaquin, Georgia Corella, Dorissa Garcia and Richard Joaquin Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; his stepmother, Dora Jane Joaquin; and his younger sister, Sharisa Joaquin.

Wake on Thursday, July 26, with funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. at San Juan Church. Graveside service at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 27, in Ak-Chin Cemetery.
