Gilbert Leyvas

Gilbert Leyvas Jr., 59, of Casa Grande died Sept. 18, 2009, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

The memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel.

Mr. Leyvas was born March 27, 1950 in Tempe and was a son of Juanita and Gilbert Leyvas Sr. He lived in the Casa Grande area since 1970. He was a forklift operator and worked in copper mining and the steel foundry industry. After the death of his father in 1996, he retired and was the primary caregiver for his invalid mother until her death in 1999. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed spending time with his mother-in-law, Margarita Perez, his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita P.; a daughter, Naomi Sanchez of Casa Grande; two sons, Esteban Leyvas of Hillsboro, Texas, and Adam Leyvas of Casa Grande; two sisters, Yolanda Martinez of Casa Grande and Sylvia Lara of Las Vegas; two brothers, Lorenzo Leyvas of Casa Grande and Jerry Leyvas of California; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
