Gilberto Castorena

ELOY - Gilberto Castorena, 89, of Nolanville, Texas, and formerly of Eloy, died on Sept. 21, 2016, at home.

Mr. Castorena was born on Aug. 7, 1927, in Mexico to Jose E. Castorena and Dolores Martinez. He was a farmworker most of his life.

He loved to travel, dance and sing while playing the harmonica and accordion. He always wore his hat and boots. Spending time with family and friends was very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his companion of 35 years, Betty Federico. Survivors include three sons, Jesus A. Castorena of Iowa, Gilberto Castorena Jr. of Minnesota and Jose E. Castorena of Arizona; five daughters, Maria O. Rivera of Fort Worth, Texas, Juana A. Castorena of Yoakum, Texas, Margaret Castorena of Arizona, Cecilia D. Dennard of Nolanville and Laura Castorena of Arizona; a brother, Jesus Castorena of Goree, Texas; two sisters, Cecilia Flores of Haskell, Texas, and Veronica Castorena of Quemado, Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held later. The graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Eloy Memorial Park.
