ARIZONA CITY - Gloria Madrid Lucero, 56, of Arizona City died on Feb. 27, 2016, at home.
Mrs. Lucero was born on July 21, 1959, in Fresno, California. She worked in housekeeping as a director of environmental services and loved to cook, making very good red chile, tamales, menudo and iced tea.
She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, having get-togethers and going to casinos. She also enjoyed playing pool and cards and was always on her phone and telling jokes. She loved her dog Sandy and cat Cory.
Survivors include her husband, George Lucero Sr.; four sons, Francisco Chavez of Tempe, Jorge Lucero Jr. of Arizona City, Gabriel Lucero of Yuma and Ruben Lucero of Casa Grande; two daughters, Sara DeKemper of Ahwatukee and Elizabeth DeKemper of Arizona City; five brothers, Tino Madrid of Yuma, Woody Madrid Sr. of Eloy, Michael Madrid of Phoenix, Joseph and Richard O’Dell of Phoenix; four sisters, Mary Lou Baldenegro of Parker, Lola Madrid of Arizona City, Josie Mattison of Vancouver, Washington, and Beatrice Lindemeyer of Wichita, Kansas; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel Madrid and Josephina O’Dell, and a son, Steven Baldenegro.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy, with rosary recited at 10. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa.
