Grace Agnes Alexander passed away September 1st, 2022 at the age of 88 surrounded by family at the family residence in Maricopa, AZ. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Bert and Myra Alexander.
Grace’s family would like to share a piece of her with the world. She had such a powerful impact on so many people. She was an unpaid foster parent by taking people off the street without compensation from the federal or state governments. She was a strong believer in treating other people how you want to be treated. Treating people with love and kindness was well known for sharing everything with anyone. Therefore she became a pillar of the community of all of Altgeld gardens and Phillip Murray homes, she was one of the first woman to ever had a face-to-face with the police department about the violence that was happening to young black people in the 70s, she didn’t take any mess. Every spot in her home was spotless; you could eat off the floor. She loved work and jigsaw puzzles, attending club meetings with the ladies in our family playing pochino. Lets not forget her love for her birds and her loving and faithful doggie Yogi. Grace took her final resting place in front of family feud starring Steve Harvey my mom was always about her business so planning her 88th birthday was her final wish and that is what she did now she is sleeping peaceful in eternity the next day. Grandma Grace always made sure we ate all of our food, we could not leave the table until our plates were empty, she always kept us proper from the way we dressed to the way we talked “ yes ma’am no ma’am” no slang in Grandma Grace house. She was the one who disciplined us and kept in line. Grandma’s friends loved us just as much as she did, she always has people around us that could teach us something new.
