Grace Verna Harvey Killingsworth passed from this life on May 8, 2014 in Durant, Bryan County, Oklahoma, having lived a long and full life filled with a number of accomplishments and always surrounded with love. Grace was born in Muscle Shoals, Alabama on October 3, 1918 to Dorothy Marguerite Baty and Clifford Watcham Harvey. She had one younger sister Clara Kathleen Harvey Nussbaumer with whom she had a life long loving relationship and who predeceased her. Grace
and her husband, and eternal companion, William Dexter Killingsworth spent the majority of their life in Casa Grande, Arizona where they raised their family. William passed away on April 30, 1981 leaving a giant hole in Grace’s life.
Grace is survived by her five daughters: Margaret Laverne Sherbert (Mark T.); Maureen Annette Ryon (Kenneth D.); Karen Kathleen Nesbitt (Michael E.); Kris Ann Mackay and Marian Willette Cluff (Paul R.); 14 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.
After high school graduation, Grace attended college at Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, California where she received an R.N. degree. She chose Children’s Hospital because it was the best orthopedic hospital in the west at the time. She practiced nursing in several doctor’s offices and at the hospital in Casa Grande. She retired as a School Nurse at
Picacho Elementary School. Grace was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and thoroughly enjoyed researching her family history. She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was a member of Eastern Star
and loved working beside her husband in their effort to help children through their work with Shriners. Grace loved life and looked forward to each opportunity she had to visit family, travel, and experience new cultures. She loved to learn and read numerous books. She served
others cheerfully and was completely devoted to her precious family. During the last years of her life Grace was extremely appreciative for her daughters’ loving care as it became
impossible for her to live independently.
Following a funeral service for family on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10 am at Cole and Maud The Gardens Chapel, internment will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Casa Grande, under the direction of J. Warren Funeral Services.
