Gregorio Sanchez Cruz

CASA GRANDE - Gregorio Sanchez Cruz, 87, of Casa Grande died on March 15, 2016, under hospice care.

Mr. Cruz was born on Jan. 4, 1929, in Mercedes, Texas, to Roman and Alejandra Cruz. He liked western movies and TV shows, listening to Spanish and chicken scratch music and dancing. He also enjoyed taking trips to visit his family and friends and loved his late wife, Patsy.

Survivors include nine sons, Greg Jr., Ruben, Henry, Sammy, Benny and Ismael Andres of Lubbock, Texas, David of Slaton, Texas, Felipe Cruz of Amherst, Texas, and Daniel Cruz of Littlefield, Texas; three daughters, Janie Ward and Jovita Gonzales of Lubbock and Esperanza Cruz of Fresno, California; four adopted daughters and son, Karen Joaquin of Casa Grande, Judith, Benjamin and Melissa Joaquin, all of Phoenix; four brothers, Encarnacion, Basilio, Elias and Frank; two sisters, Ophelia and Margarita; 26 grandchildren; 12 grandchildren from his adopted children; and 30 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Alex.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Cocklebur Cemetery, Tohono O’odham Nation.
