Gregory Raymond Calkins

FLORENCE - Gregory Calkins, 78, of Florence died Sept. 29, 2008 in Casa Grande.


Mr. Calkins was born in North Hollywood, Calif. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and worked as a plasterer. He loved life and was easygoing. He was an accomplished golfer and enjoyed playing in tournaments. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was devoted to his family, spent much time with them and enjoyed his grandchildren's scholastic abilities. He also enjoyed watching them play sports.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Johanna; two sons, Tim Calkins of Torrance, Calif., and Dan Calkins of Granada Heights, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ann Bell of Simi Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Victor and Richard Calkins, and three sisters, Nellie Soloman, Hazel Calkins and Mildred Caldwell.

The service will be held later.
