SACATON — Harlan H. Jackson, 64, of Sacaton died on Jan. 10, 2013, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the District 3 Service Center. Funeral Mass and rosary will begin at 7 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton, with Monsignor Ed Meulemans as celebrant. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
Mr. Jackson was born on June 16, 1948, in Sacaton and was a son of Harless Porter and Phyllis Jackson Blackwater. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a welder. He attended St. Anthony's Mission and was one of the founding members of Ira Hayes Legion Post 84 in Sacaton. He enjoyed rodeo, especially bareback riding.
Survivors include five daughters, Cynthia A. Johnson and Leslie Testa of Sacaton, Shelly Jackson of Casa Blanca, Sunny Sepulveda of Phoenix and Tiara "Tavi" Dukepoo of Second Mesa; a brother, Shannon Blackwater of Sacaton; five sisters, Gail Blackwater of Goodyear, Natalie Blackwater of Sacaton, Olivia Blackwater of Casa Blanca, Jenifer Blackwater of Casa Grande and Carol Lewis of Sacaton; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, and two sisters, Madeline F. and Orlinda Williams.
