Harold Vern “Bud” Gartz, 81, of Casa Grande died Feb. 24, 2010 at Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande.
Private services will be held.
Mr. Gartz was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Canada to Julius Gartz and Velma Gladys Gartz. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing: Family members say he picked up the guitar at the age of 15 and never put it down. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had been retired for 26 years from Washington state, where he traveled as a member of the Escapees RV Club. He and his wife of 59 years, Jessie Edith Gartz, spent winters in Casa Grande and summers in Washington.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Lois Peterson of Elizabeth, Colo.; two sons, Keith of Fruitland, Wash., and Tom of Pasco, Wash.; one brother, Ken of Spokane Valley, Wash.; two sisters, Jean Lawson of Spokane, Wash., and Phyllis Berry of Logan, Utah; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary, and two grandchildren.
J. Warren Funeral Services of Casa Grande is in charge of arrangements.
