Harry Kopiak, 90, of Casa Grande died on July 21, 2011, at Southern Arizona VA Medical Center in Tucson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Felix Rodriguez. Burial will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, N.J.
Mr. Kopiak was born on April 16, 1921, in Edwardsville, Pa. He served in the Marine Corps and was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack at the beginning of World War II. He served for 25 years on the Newark, N.J., police force including during the 1967 race riots. He loved listening to music, especially mariachi and cumbia. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rita; a daughter, Carolyn Melendy of Bayville, N.J.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
