Helen Ruth Gangstad, 86, of Chandler died on June 16, 2012, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
The celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sonland Lutheran Church in Casa Grande, with the Rev. Duane Bottjen officiating.
Mrs. Gangstad was born on Aug. 10, 1925, in Froid, Mont., to Walter and Wilhemina (Fritz) Rasmussen. She grew up as a member of Dane Valley Lutheran Church and attended the Dane Valley country school She graduated from high school in 1944. On June 3 of that year she married Alton Gangstad. They lived in several Montana communities and also Williston, N.D.
In 1996 they moved to Casa Grande. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working, camping, boating, fishing, travel, cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband; a brother, Manford Rasmussen of Culbertson, Mont.; a sister, Janet McNett of Catilda, Wash.; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerine Spindler; a son, Alan Gangstad; a sister, Wilma Murrain; and a brother, Norman Rasmussen.
