Henry "Hank" Polit

Henry "Hank" John Polit, 91, servant to God, family, and country, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Hank was born February 18, 1927 to John and Karolina (Sawa) Polit, and was a long-time Chicagoan before moving to Arizona to retire. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947 as a Water Tender 3rd class on the USS Colohan, and was a past Commander of the American Legion, Billy Caldwell Post #806. Hank was a member of the Chicago Carpenters Union for 54 years.

Hank is survived by Geraldine, his wife of nearly 66 years, and their children Katherine Appelt (Paul) and Richard Polit. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Michael, Chris (Bridget), Rachel Hansell (Derek), and Matthew Appelt; his great-grandchildren Ricky and Henry; his nephews John Tuman (Nancy), Ed Tuman (Jeana), and Thadeus Jr. Polit (Cynthia); his many great nieces and nephews including Cheryl Mackey; and his devoted friend, Danielle Ferguson.

He is predeceased by his parents, sister Casimira Tuman (Edwin), brother Thadeus (Sophie), and niece Carole Kent.

Family will be greeting friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at J Warren Funeral Services the Gardens Chapel located at 525 North Peart Road in Casa Grande, Arizona. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at the funeral home at 7:00 PM. A celebration of Hank’s life will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM at the J Warren Funeral Services Mt View Chapel located at 15506 Skyway Avenue, Casa Grande, Arizona with Father Ariel Lustan officiating. Military burial will follow in the Mt View Cemetery.
Funeral services are entrusted to J Warren Funeral Services Cole & Maude the Gardens Chapel.
