BAPCHULE - Herbert Anthony "Bert" Rhodes, 51, died on Oct. 11, 2014, at Caring House.
Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday at the District 5 Multipurpose Building. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes was born on May 6, 1963, in Sacaton. He attended St. Peter Catholic School through eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School. He worked in security at Akimel O’otham Smoke Shop, as a landscaper at Gila River Casino, as a laborer at Therm-O-Rock and Gila River Public Works, in maintenance for Gila River Housing and as a bailiff for Gila River Tribal Courts.
Always a happy person, he enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed meeting, joking and talking with people and making them laugh. He enjoyed sports of all sorts, especially playing baseball and bowling, and listening to all types of music. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church.
Survivors include four sisters, Carolyn Williams, Darlene Encinas, Joanne and Loretta Rhodes, all of Sacaton, a brother, Gerald Rhodes of San Xavier; his companion, Angela Jose; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melissa M. Lewis and Roy A. Rhodes Sr., and two brothers, Roy A. Rhodes Jr. and Edwin Rhodes.
