Hester Shepherd, 89, of Casa Grande died on Dec. 26, 2013, at home.
The celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with Brother Jeff Thomas officiating.
Ms. Shepherd was born on July 18, 1924, in Tallapoosa, Mo., and was a daughter of Estes and Bernardine Tremmel. She was a retail customer service representative and was Jehovah’s Witness. She loved dancing, gardening, being outside and her family. She was "Queen for a Day" on Jack Bailey’s TV show of the same name in 1958 and was a hard worker and always busy.
Survivors include four daughters, Paula Shepherd of Casa Grande, Lynelle Munoz of Bisbee, Kathy Fox of Carlsbad, Calif., and LaDonna Hill of Sierra Vista; two sons, Dickey Fortenberry of Jamestown, Calif., and Wayne Fortenberry of Kent, Wash.; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carol Tremmel, and a sister, Nellie Tremmel.
