Carlos Gutierrez, 43, of Casa Grande died June 20, 2021 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix following a lengthy three-year battle with cancer. The Lord blessed him with tremendous strength and will to live, as Carlos blessed his family and friends with his presence. Carlos was born December 27, 1977 in Florence, Arizona to Frances Gutierrez and Humberto Guerrero. Carlos is survived by and resided in Casa Grande with his immediate family: wife, Amber Smith Gutierrez; daughter, Mia and son, Mavrick. Carlos is also survived by his daughter, Lisette Gutierrez of Casa Grande; his in-laws, Mary Ann and Lenny Smith of Casa Grande; his mother, Frances Gutierrez of Eloy; his grandmother, Margaret Remigio of Florence; granddaughter, Zelda Cardenas of Casa Grande; five uncles, three aunts, as well as 10 siblings: Claudia Lopez and Leticia Gutierrez of Florence, Josie Valdez of Eloy, Frank Gutierrez of Casa Grande, Fred Gutierrez of Florence. Carlos is also survived by his extended siblings: Patty, Margaret, Caesar, Carlos and Danny Guerrero all of California. Carlos worked for the City of Casa Grande. He loved his job and his coworkers who were all his “brothers” and all considered his second family. Carlos was always there for his friends as they were always there for him. He loved sports, especially the 49ers. Carlos was a loyal family man. He was passionately involved with his children and their activities. He also cherished spending time with his young granddaughter, Zelda. Carlos enjoyed working on and spending time in his backyard. He looked forward to taking family trips to Rocky Point Mexico and Sea World. No matter where he went, Carlos made new friends, and he had countless. Carlos far surpassed the survival time line which the doctors had predicted. Even as his illness progressed, Carlos actively met every day with the strength to survive. He was considered a walking miracle. Out of love for his family, friends, and life itself, he fought his cancer daily for three years with every ounce of strength he had. There will be no funeral services, however there will be a private celebration of life planned. Carlos’s wish was cremation and to go home with his family
