Ina S. Mapes, 87, of Coolidge, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family and her cat "Kitty Boy" on July 12,2022, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born April 8, 1935, in Florence, Arizona to Charles Houston Reed and Ina St. Clair Reed.
Ina graduated from Coolidge High School and lived in Coolidge until going off to college. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl E. Mapes and started a family as a devoted wife and mother. She also enjoyed volunteer work for various community outreach programs and as such was one of the founding members of the Golden Goose, a volunteer/director at Catalina Helping Hands and the founder of the Catalina Mountain Pocket Pi Phi’s. Ina enjoyed crafts and tending to her flower gardens, especially her roses.
Survivors include her sons and daughters, Carl E. Mapes Jr., of Oro Valley, Cindi
Mapes of Pearce, Debbie Williams of Catalina, Chuck Mapes of Catalina, and
Savannah Williams of Tucson, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Carl E. Mapes and her
parents.
