BLACKWATER - Isabelle Bernadette Manuel, 67, of Blackwater died peacefully on Aug. 10, 2016.
Mrs. Manuel was born on Aug. 12, 1948, in Sacaton to Daniel and Clemencia Leos. She attended St. Johns High School within the Gila River Indian Community, graduating in 1966 before going to college. In 1970 she met Don G. Manuel of Blackwater, and they married on May 26, 1971.
She worked for the Arizona Department of Economic Security in Coolidge for a number of years, then worked for Gila River Regional Behavioral Health Authority as an administrative assistant for 15 years before medical retirement. Besides working, she loved caring for and raising her family.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Edward Manuel of Sacaton and Brian Manuel of Blackwater; a daughter, Stacey Lewis of Blackwater; three brothers, Gerald Leos Sr., Earl Lara and Ralph Grajiola, all of Sacaton Flats; two sisters, Jacinta and Kathleen Lara of Sacaton Flats; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Leos Jr. and Robert Leos, and a sister, Cecelia Mallow.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Mission. A wake will follow at the District 2 Service Center in Sacaton Flats until 10 p.m. Burial will be at 6 a.m. Saturday in North Blackwater Cemetery.
