Jack Adair
ARIZONA CITY — Jack “Buffalo” Adair, 65, of Arizona City died on April 20, 2010 at home.
Mr. Adair was born on Oct. 26, 1944 to Charles and Velma Adair in Benton Harbor, Mich., the youngest of three children. He spent most of his life in that area until retirement took him and his wife west for the winter months in Arizona. For about 20 years he was an avid trap shooter. He was nicknamed “Buffalo” competing in trap events around Indiana and Michigan; his skills won him numerous awards. He also loved running the traps at the Watervliet (Mich.) Conservation Club. He shot archery for 15 years and was an avid golfer and bowler. He met the love of his life, his wife, while bowling with his daughter and her in a tournament.
He started a career with Superior Building and Southwest Michigan Construction in St. Joseph, Mich. He spent the majority of his career as a foreman for Balkema Inc. of Kalamazoo, Mich., in underground construction, retiring in 2000 due to illness.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 21 years, Paget; his mother, of Bridgman, Mich.; a daughter, Suzanne Davis of Baroda, Mich.; a son, Steven Adair of Stevensville, Mich.; his first wife, Rita of Stevensville; three daughters through marriage, Maurenna Rickers of Coloma, Mich., Brandilyn Ramseyer of Stevensville and Shonda Warren of Watervliet; a brother, Charles Adair of Florida; a sister, Carol Mason of Georgia; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
J. Warren Funeral Services provided cremation services. A graveside service will be held later in Michigan.
