CASA GRANDE - Jack Albert Zeleznikar, 95, of Casa Grande died peacefully in his sleep at home on Jan. 9, 2019.
Mr. Zeleznikar was born on April 4, 1923, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Josef and Johana (Glinsek) Zeleznikar. He spent his last 24 years in Casa Grande and was a veteran of World War II who was devoted to his family and friends. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in engineering and worked for 35 years for Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railroad, retiring as manager of structural engineering.
An avid golfer, he made his last hole-in-one at age 85 and golfed into his 90s. He enjoyed spending time with his golfing buddies and family and building many clever solutions to the engineering problems presented to him.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Oleson, Lori Lightner and Jane Zeleznikar, all of Minnesota, and Patricia Zeleznikar of Casa Grande; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, JoAnn; six brothers; and five sisters.
Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral Mass celebrated at 4.
