James K. Henness "Jim", a life-long native of Casa Grande, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2018 at the age of 81. Jim was born on November 7, 1936 in Casa Grande to Kelvin and Louise Henness. He is survived by
his wife of 60 years, Janet; his children, Jack (Doris), Jill Barnett (Mike) and Joel (Kristi); and his four grandchildren, Jonathan, Mallory, Carley Barnett and Konnor.
Jim farmed in the Casa Grande Valley for more than 60 years.
He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1959. He loved
his family and friends. His influence on the agricultural, civic and
philanthropic organizations he was a member of greatly aided the
communities which he served. Jim’s affiliations included: Agri-Business Council, National Association Conservation District, Arizona Navigable Stream, Arizona Power Authority, Casa Grande Elementary School Board,
Federal Land Bank Association, San Carlos Irrigation and Drainage District and West Pinal Natural Resource Conservation District. He was awarded the University of Arizona Centennial Award and
was inducted into the Arizona Farming-Ranching Hall of Fame.
A Celebration of Life service will be held June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Gardens Chapel, 525 N. Peart Road, Casa Grande. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Casa Grande Valley Historical Society.
