James Gladden “Jim” Marsh Jr., 74, a retired Casa Grande banker, died on July 4, 2013.
Mr. Marsh was born on Oct. 16, 1938, in Greenville, Miss., and was a son of Maggie Penney Marsh and James G. Marsh Sr. He worked for Valley National Bank and Bank One for 42 years and was vice president and manager of the Casa Grande offices of the bank that is now part of Chase. He graduated from North Phoenix High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Arizona State University in 1961.
He joined Valley Bank in 1957, was called to military duty in 1961 and returned to the bank in 1963. He was active in the Casa Grande community, including the Casa Grande Rotary Club. His favorite departing words upon meeting someone were “It’s been a slice of heaven.” He “came to terms with his life,” being sober since 1980 and smoke free since 2001. He loved the Diamondbacks and Notre Dame and Arizona State teams.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Roswitha Hering Marsh; a son, Rick McClue of Texas; and a brother, Bob Marsh of California.
No service is planned.
