CASA GRANDE - James Norrise Falls, 89, died on April 30, 2017.
Mr. Falls was born on Nov. 1, 1927, with twin sister Mattie Dorrise in Leesburg, Texas, to Rube and Pearlie Falls. At a young age he moved to Arizona, where he met LaVerne Campbell and married her on May 23, 1949, in Florence. In 1955 they joined New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful deacon, president of the deacon board, superintendent of the Sunday school and director of Baptist Training Union.
He worked for Bechtel Corporation for a little over 30 years. When he wasn't working, he loved spending time outdoors. There he would tinker with cars, chat with friends or just sit on the porch. His enthusiasm for church and his willingness to sacrifice for his family and do the best for the Lord were his life's purpose.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years; a granddaughter, Chiffon Falls; three brothers, Earl D., Lorenzo and Shelton Falls; and seven sisters, Abberdine Taylor, Venora McCloud, Lorretta Jennings, Ruby Lee Durham, Charlene Thomas, Della Faye Patton and her twin, Ella Falls. Survivors include a son and three daughters, Gary Falls of Phoenix, Jackie Beasley, Denice Carr and Carolyn Falls, all of Casa Grande; two brothers, Sam and Vernon Falls of Dallas; three sisters, Mattie D. Freeman of Celeste, Texas, Doris N. Coleman and Lee J. Petty of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
