James (Jim) Cornelius Van Eck, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023 in Maricopa, Arizona. He was born on February 28, 1944 in Grand Rapids Michigan, but Hinesville Georgia was home. In the 28-plus years, Jim built a beautiful home and made wonderful friends.
Jim dedicated his life to serving his country and retired as a respected member of the military. James (Jim) Cornelius Van Eck enlisted in the Army and served with honor and distinction for 27 years. He demonstrated unwavering commitment, bravery, and selflessness throughout his military career. Jim served in various capacities and deployments. He officially retired as a Master Sergeant.
Beyond his military service, James (Jim) Cornelius Van Eck was a loving spouse, parent, and friend. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for his loved ones. Jim will be remembered for his strong leadership, integrity, and dedication to duty.
James (Jim) Cornelius Van Eck was deeply respected and admired by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and love. He will be dearly missed by his family. His beautiful wife of 60 years, Sigrid Van Eck, Daughter Loralee Mitchell, (the late)Son-in-law Russel Mitchell, Grandson Matthew Mitchell, Granddaughter Megen Mitchell, Son Michael Van Eck, Daughter-in-law Patricia Van Eck, Granddaughter Lindsey (Jordan) Aldridge, Granddaughter Mackenzie (Eli) Pillsbury, Great Granddaughter Indiana Aldridge, Son James Christopher Van Eck, Daughter-in-law Elizabeth Van Eck, Grandson Ryan Van Eck, Grandson Zachary Van Eck, Daughter Heather Marie Vargas, Granddaughter Sophia Vargas, Son Joshua Van Eck, Daughter-in-law Renea Martucci Van Eck, Grandson Conner Van Eck, Granddaughter Leighton Van Eck, Son Joel Van Eck, Grandson James Van Eck, Granddaughter Rosalee Van Eck.
Jim’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. A funeral service with military honors to celebrate the life of Jim will be held on December 8, 2023, at 10:00am at J Warren Funeral Services Cole & Maud Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande, AZ.
