Janiece Maddux passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2021 after experiencing multiple, debilitating health challenges. Members of her family and the caring staff of The Garnet and Compassus Hospice brought comfort during her time of transition.
Born on Christmas Day 1933 to Audrey and Elizabeth Powell in Pima Arizona, she was the oldest of three children. During the post-Depression and World War II years, her parents moved often for work and she took responsibility in caring for her brother and sister when needed. After graduating from high school, she met Charles Maddux, a heavy equipment operator for El Paso Natural Gas. They married soon afterwards and spent their first years together following the construction of gas lines from El Paso to Tucson before eventually settling in Casa Grande. She later took a position at Casa Grande Union High School in the Attendance Department until she retired from work. Traveling, sight seeing and dining out were activities that she enjoyed.
Janiece is preceded in death by her husband and daughter and is survived by her son, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest Monday, Oct. 11th at 10am at Mountain View Cemetery in Casa Grande.
