Jean Spencer

FLORENCE — Jean Spencer, 97, of Florence died on April 27, 2012.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florence. The funeral will follow at 9, with Bishop Ryan Michel officiating. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Ms. Spencer was born on July 25, 1914, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was a daughter of Alan A. and Helen A. Rea. She served in the Canadian army during World War II, working as a secretary and in the motor pool. She was an avid artist and worked with porcelain and Indian sand paintings. She also enjoyed sewing, the outdoors, camping, visiting and travel, especially in the Western states.
She was very outgoing and social and had an ability to draw out shy people.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Firmstone of Canada; four sons, James Spencer of Florence, Ernest Firmstone and Alan Headly of Canada and Charles Spencer of the United States; a sister, Irma Florence of Canada; and two grandchildren.
