Jesus Castillo Saiza

January 19, 1919 — April 19, 2008

COOLIDGE - Jesus Castillo Saiza, 89, of Coolidge died April 19, 2008 at home.


Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 3 Service Center, Gila River Indian Community. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton by Deacon Ron Poudin. Burial will be in Sacaton Flats Cemetery.

Mr. Saiza was born Jan. 19, 1919 in Bisbee. He was an irrigator and was described as a workaholic, always busy doing something else when not working at his regular job over the years. He was a good mechanic and loved to rebuild cars. He was a handyman and also enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed telling stories about his younger days and was quite a jokester.

Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Saiza of Coolidge, Amelia Zamarano of Sacaton, Bernadette Hyatt-Saiza of U Buttes, Deloris Saiza of Laveen and Petra Saiza of Casa Grande; a sister, Lucia Oliva of Brawley, Calif.; three brothers, Arturo Saiza of Blythe, Calif., Lorenzo and Joseph Saiza of Sacaton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Matilda; a daughter, Mary Louise Saiza; a son, Patrick Saiza; a sister, Rosa Gonzalez; and two brothers, Benny and Angel Saiza.
