COOLIDGE - Jesus Cardenas, 95, of Coolidge died on May 2, 2016, at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale.
Mr. Cardenas was born on Oct. 25, 1920, in Del Rio, Texas, and was a son of Manuel Cardenas and Rosa Nunez. He was blessed with good health during a very long life. He loved his wife and family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always had cookies in the jar and mints for them. He was hardworking and devoted to his family.
He enjoyed baseball, especially the Diamondbacks, and boxing. His witty jokes always brought smiles to people’s faces.
Survivors include two sons, Carlos and Alfredo Cardenas; three daughters, Rose Mari Leon, Lupe Cardenas and Juana Vargas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria V.; a son, J.M. Cardenas; and a great-grandson, Jeremy M. Cardenas.
Visitation began at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9:30. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10. Burial was in Heritage Valley Memorial Park.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
