Jewel Walton Sanders of Casa Grande, AZ passed away at his home on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Born July 25, 1927 in Muscogee, Oklahoma, he moved with his family to Arizona in 1930. Preceded in death by father Joseph Stephen Sanders in 1946 and mother Linda Iowa Sanders (Wood) in 1956, Jewel was the last of their 9 children to die.
Jewel will be remembered by the community as a carpenter, cabinet-maker and principal contractor of K-R-S Builders. His workmanship can still be seen in many buildings in Casa Grande. Although he worked hard all of his life, he wasn’t content that he never finished high school. At 55, he was proud to have easily passed the GED.
Along with his wife of 46 years, Wanda Fay Sanders (Winnett), he enjoyed dove, javelina & deer hunt- ing, fishing the lakes in Arizona and spending time with family. He cherished answering to Daddy, Pops and Papa. Our "Precious Jewel" leaves behind 4 daughters: Linda Jewel Jones (Mike) of Gil- bert, Patti Lynn Santee (Jerry) of Mesa, Cindy Hipps Umbdenstock of Buckeye, Diana Hipps Hussak (Tom) of Picacho and 1 son, Brian Hipps (Tonya) of Perry, Georgia. Sadly, he was preceded in death by sons Daryl Wayne Sanders, James Hipps (Jackie) and grandson, Jarret Santee (Jennifer.)
Papa Jewel will be missed by 14 grandchildren: Sean, Sadie, Jennifer, Shantel, Michael, T.J., Traci, Tommy, Tricia, Tammie, Jacob, Crystal, April & Samantha; as well as 20 great-grandkids and
5 great-great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Many photos & cherished memories have been posted on Facebook by children & grandchildren. Contributions may be made in memory of
