Jimmy L. Simpson, 76, of Casa Grande died on Aug. 19, 2012, at Lita Caring Home.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. A celebration of life will begin at 2, with David Elliot officiating.
Mr. Simpson was born on Nov. 21, 1935, in Indianola, Iowa, and was a son of Sarah R. and Lloyd D. Simpson. He served in the National Guard and was a high school teacher, guidance counselor and football and basketball coach during a 30-year career in education. He was a member of the National Education Association and Illinois Education Association.
He loved golf, travel and watching sports. He was generous and had a great sense of humor and served as an elder and trustee of Christian Church of Casa Grande.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ellen E.; a daughter, Cynthia Watts of Arizona City; two sons, Mark Simpson of Moab, Utah, and Michael Simpson of Clinton, Mont.; a brother, Bill Simpson of East Moline, Ill.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Duane Simpson.
Memorial contributions may be made to cancer or heart associations.
