ELOY - Joe Saldivar, 92, of Eloy died March 26, 2007 at RTA Hospice House in Casa Grande.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church by the Rev. Walter Balduck. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Saldivar was born Oct. 25, 1914 in Lordsburg, N.M., and was a son of Simona and Joe Saldivar Sr. He was known as "Zapatero" and operated Arizona Boot Shop in Eloy from 1953 until retiring at age 72. He designed many things with leather, including boots, shoes, purses and saddles. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! on TV. He loved to joke around.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria Saldivar of Casa Grande; four sons, Robert and Joe S. Saldivar of Eloy, Manuel Saldivar of Phoenix and Mario Saldivar of Casa Grande; a stepson, Eddie Anchondo of Eloy; two brothers, Felix and Esiquio Saldivar of El Paso, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita, and a daughter, Simona Saldivar.
