John "Mike" Mejia, 53, of Casa Grande died on April 15, 2012, at home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Mejia was born on Sept. 15, 1958, in Casa Grande. He served in the Army as a heavy-equipment operator from 1977 to 1981. He later was a carpenter. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed barbecuing, good music, riding motorcycles, raising cattle, chickens, pigs and dogs, and drinking beer with his family and friends. He also enjoyed working and rebuilding engines.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Vickie E.; three daughters, Suzanne Lindley, Jessica Armenderez and April Mejia, all of Casa Grande; four sons, Armando, Michael and John M. Mejia Jr. and Angel Romero, all of Casa Grande; his mother, Socorro Mejia of Casa Grande; three sisters, Rosanna Mejia, Mary Martinez and Rachel Lopez of Casa Grande; two brothers, Tommy Mejia and David Mejia of Casa Grande; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Epifanio F. Mejia.
