John R. Stanek

John R. Stanek, 75, of Casa Grande died on Jan. 4, 2010 at Hospice of the Valley, Dobson House in Chandler.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Stanek was born on Dec. 10, 1934 in Chicago and was a son of John G. and Christine Stanek. He had a career in the Navy, retiring after 20 years, and was proud of his service. He enjoyed music, especially polka. He also enjoyed games, especially Yahtzee, joking with friends, his birds and cats and pets in general. He was a very capable handyman.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Consepcion; two daughters, Christine Stanek of Forest Park, Ill., and Maria Conners of Santee, Calif.; a brother, Robert F. Stanek of Gray, Ga.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Stanek.
