John G. Sanders

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved John Sanders “Opa”, who left us on January 10, 2025. Born January 18, 1929 in Boxtel, The Netherlands, he is predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Leny (nee Van Asten) and survived by three sons, John (Angela), Robert (Kathie), and Gerald (Shari), grandchildren Nicholas (Alexandra), Victoria, Chelsea (John), Sean and Emma, and great grandchildren Melina and Zoe.

John emigrated from The Netherlands with Leny in 1957. He worked at Signode Corp., a multinational packaging company for over 30 years in both the United States and Europe before retiring as a Vice President.

Until 2021 he was a faithful member of the St Anthony community and was very active with The St Vincent DePaul Society. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a dear friend and mentor to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral mass will be held for John on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 9:30am at the Divine Mercy Chapel of St Anthony of Padua Church in Casa Grande, AZ.

His family kindly requests that no flowers be sent.  In lieu of this, memorial donations in memory of John may be made to The Restoration Fund, St Anthony of Padua Church, 201 N. Picacho Street, Casa Grande, AZ 85122.
