SACATON - John W. Morago, 61, of Sacaton died July 8, 2009 in Apache Junction.
Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, with visitation continuing until 10 p.m. at the District 3 Service Center in Sacaton. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton at 6 a.m. Monday. A graveside service followed in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mr. Morago was born Jan. 11, 1948 in Sacaton. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a welder for more than 35 years with the San Carlos Irrigation Project and recently retired. A former resident of Coolidge, he also was a farmer for many years. He was a cowboy in his younger years. He was active in providing motorcycle escort services with veterans groups.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth of Apache Junction; four daughters, Kristina and Johanna of Sacaton, Teresa of Arizona City and Elizabeth of Coolidge; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Morago and Dorothy Case Jackson, and a sister, Annette.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Mountain View Chapel handled the arrangements.
