ARIZONA CITY — Johnnie S. Doubleday, 81, died Sept. 23, 2009 at his winter home in Arizona City.

Mr. Doubleday was born in Meeteetse, Wyo., on March 10, 1928. He married Joan Fitzgerald in 1951 and was married for more than 50 years until her death in 2002. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, was 4th Degree and was a former state deputy. He was also active in Elks Lodge 303 and was a past exalted ruler.

He is survived by his three daughters, Joan Lee of Durango, Colo., Jann Gaige of Canby, Ore., and Janet Bergum of Terrebonne, Ore.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Redmond, Ore., at 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held later in Arizona.

Donations may be made to the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson.
