Jose Aviles

ELOY - Jose Aviles, 82, of Eloy died at home on Feb. 8, 2016.

Mr. Aviles was born on Aug. 13, 1933, in the Bronx, New York. He served in the Army and was an educator. He loved to collect stamps and commemoratives and was a historian of the Civil War and World War II. An avid reader, he loved to learn and enjoy life to the fullest. He had many friends in Pennsylvania and Arizona. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Casa Grande.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Illig-Aviles; two sons, Brian Aviles of Greenbrae, California, and Gregory Aviles of Tucson; a brother, Richard Aviles of Florida; a sister, Esther Palmieri of Pennsylvania; and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Aviles; a brother, Hector Aviles; and two sisters, Elba Mangieri and Zeda Shadowy.

A private service will be held later.
