FLORENCE - Jose Blanco, 63, of Florence died on June 8, 2015.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10. The funeral will be at 10:30, with Deacon Joe Lyncha officiating.
Mr. Blanco was born on Sept. 30, 1951, in Florence. An avid sports fan, he was a four-year letterman in football, baseball, track and basketball at Florence High School. He served in the Marine Corps and Army and later was a carpenter.
He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and loved John Wayne movies. He loved a cold beer and family barbecues and enjoyed being playfully competitive.
Survivors include two daughters, Tonia Blanco of Florence and Marie Blanco of Bossier City, Louisiana; a son, Jose Blanco II of Mesa; two sisters, Bellen McCauley of Taylor and Christina Felix of Mesa; a brother, Tony Blanco of Florida; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
