Jose E. Gonzales

COOLIDGE - Jose Eusebio Gonzales, 84, of Coolidge died on Jan. 22, 2014, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Gonzales home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church by the Father Adolfo Martinez. Burial will be in Heritage Valley Memorial Park.

Mr. Gonzales was born on Oct. 29, 1929, in Tempe and was a son of Jose Loreto and Augustina Gonzales. He lived most of his life in Phoenix, working as a farm laborer for Bartlett-Heard Company. He later moved to Coolidge, where he worked as a custodian for the Coolidge Unified School District, retiring after 18 years.

He loved to joke, play the accordion and harmonica, camp and fish with his kids and grandkids, and especially loved his Sunday family barbecues.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Estella Gonzales; three sons, Loreto, Cruz (Ernestina) and Andres (Mariann); three daughters, Anita, Zaira and Augustina Gonzales (Dan Aleman); a sister, Juanita Gonzales; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five children, Carlitos, Rosalva, Joshue, Martin and Eusebio, and four sisters, Leonarda Gonzales, Maria Cruz Bonila, Josephina Pena and Mary Helen Villalobos.
