Jose Leos

August 4, 1936 — December 24, 2017

ELOY - Jose Soza Leos, 81, died on Dec. 24, 2017, in Chandler, with his family at his side.

Mr. Leos was born on Aug. 4, 1936, in Chandler and was a son of Jesus and Angelita Leos. He worked for Bud Antle Inc. and Picacho Pecans as a maintenance man for more than 35 years and was well respected for his "can do attitude."

He was devoted to his family and neighbors and opened his home to anyone who was in need of food, clothing or a place to stay for the night. He cherished his grandchildren and played an essential role in each of their lives. An avid John Wayne fan, he was a cowboy at heart. He had a talent for growing cacti from Mexico that neighbors and tourists marveled at and would stop and take pictures and inquire about. He enjoyed educating everyone about the different types.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nellie, and a brother, Henry. He is survived by two sons, Jose Angel and Ruben; five daughters, Priscilla Alderete, Anna Tipton, Teresa Leos Williamson, Rosie Guillen and Carmen Leos; eight brothers; two stepbrothers; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9:30. Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 by the Rev. Alonzo Garcia. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park.
