SANTA ROSA VILLAGE - Jose Mark Wood, 75, of Santa Rosa died on Sept. 23, 2017, at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson.
Mr. Wood was born on Feb. 26, 1942, in Santa Rosa to Buster and Lolisa (Frank) Wood. He was a traditional singer, read all kinds of books and enjoyed watching TV. He was known for making rattles out of gourds.
He coached softball when his sisters were younger and played in a band with his brother Alfred and friends. He would say to his family, "I'm a simple man." He was a security guard for Bureau of Indian Affairs schools before retiring.
Survivors include two sons, Jason and Terence Wood of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Andreana Wood of Santa Rosa; a sister, Juanita R. Carlos of Santa Rosa; three brothers, Evan J., Leslie C. and Delbert S. Wood, all of Santa Rosa; his mother, of Santa Rosa; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa; a daughter, Cherylmarie Ramon; his father; and five brothers and sisters, Jose Steve Wood, Alfred J. Wood, Mary E. Moristo, Louie and Josephine Wood.
Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Mission, with wake following there. Burial at sunrise Saturday, Sept. 30, in Southside Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
