Joseph Matthews

BLACKWATER - Joseph Lee Matthews, 67, of Phoenix died on Feb. 13, 2014, in Chandler.

Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in North Blackwater Cemetery, with the Rev. Lorenzo Coops officiating.

Mr. Matthews was born on Nov. 17, 1946, in Sacaton and was a son of Lyle and Marian Matthews. He was a fabrication worker and loved cats, at one time having nine. He enjoyed old westerns, especially with John Wayne.

Survivors include a daughter, Josette Matthews of Denver; a son, Christopher Matthews of Denver; and three sisters, Betty L. Perez, Carol Baptisto and Corrine Sekayouma, all of Sacaton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Haynes, and a brother, Wendell Matthews.
