Josephine "Josie" Miller, 82, of Casa Grande died on March 8, 2015, at Oasis Pavilion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 by the Rev. Alonzo Garcia.
Mrs. Miller was born on April 17, 1932, in Del Valle, Texas. Her parents were Demetrio and Rita Martinez, and her stepmother was Justa Martinez. Raised in Eloy, she worked alongside her father to manage the first gas station in town. At age 18 she entered St. Andrew’s Convent in San Antonio, Texas. She received a bachelor’s degree in child psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
In 1974 she married Charles Miller of Milwaukee, where she worked until she retired. In 1995 they moved to Casa Grande. She was a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Frank Martinez of Casa Grande and Lupe Martinez of Eloy; a sister, Genevieve Leon of Eloy; six nieces; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by a niece.
