Josie Castro

Josie Castro, 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
She is remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. "All her great and great-great grandchildren lovingly called her Big Grandma, although she only stood 4 feet something; she had a huge heart," said her family. "She knew no strangers, and everyone that had the opportunity to get to know her, loved her back. Especially children; she loved kids. She worked a few years taking care of the kids during recess at the grade school in Ajo, and they all loved her as well. We will miss her dearly, but know that she is resting peacefully now among God's angels."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Castro. Mrs. Castro is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Ruben "Benny" & Bertha Castro, Willie & Helen Castro, Joe & Arcilia, Richard "Eddie" & Soccoro Cas-tro, John Paul & Andrea Castro, and Ernie & Isabel Castro; by her sisters, Lupe Escalante of Phoe-nix and Mary Villa of Wittier, California: and by her 22 grand-children, 44 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Mariposa Funeral Chapel, 400 S. Power Road in Mesa, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 19. Burial services will be held at the Ajo Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20. J. Warren Funeral Services Douglass Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
