Josie G. Diaz, 67, of Casa Grande died on Feb. 21, 2012, at home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Diaz was born on June 12, 1944, in Texas and was a daughter of Jesus Guanajuato and Delfina Hernandez. She was a homemaker and also baby-sat, especially for single mothers, providing help in their lives. She was known as a strong woman despite struggling with illnesses and also was the heart of her family. She took care of her parents, siblings and grandchildren and helped to guide family members.
She was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Anthony's Church and loved reading the Bible. She loved spending time with her family and traveling with them to visit relatives. She loved cooking and was good at it.
Survivors include her love and husband of 41 years, Lupe; two sons, Luis G. Martinez and Jaime Diaz of Casa Grande; a daughter, Cynthia Diaz Ruelas of Phoenix; five brothers, Jessie, Juan and Ramiro Guanajuato, all of Eloy, Juventino and Richard Guanajuato of Casa Grande; two sisters, Esperanza Salazar and Olivia Mendivil of Eloy; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roberto and Gilberto Guanajuato, and a sister, Ernestina Guanajuato.
